What are the most popular communication scenarios with a virtual girl?

Lately I’ve been curious about how people actually interact with virtual AI girlfriends. A friend of mine mentioned that he sometimes chats with one just to unwind after work, almost like talking to someone who listens without judging. It sounded a bit unusual at first, but then I realized people already talk to assistants, bots, and even game characters all the time. I’m wondering what kinds of conversations are actually the most common. Is it mostly casual daily talk, like discussing your day, or do people use it more for storytelling, role-play, or emotional support?

From what I’ve seen, a lot of people use these chats in pretty everyday ways. Some treat it almost like a diary where they talk about their day, while others enjoy more creative scenarios like imagining trips, sharing jokes, or even practicing conversations they might have in real life. I tried something similar a while back just out of curiosity and was surprised how natural it felt after a few messages. If you want to see what I mean, I stumbled across

while looking into AI chat platforms, and it gives a pretty good idea of how those interactions usually work.
