I live in a ground-floor flat in Leeds, and my bedroom window faces a busy street. I've tried blackout blinds, but light always seeps in around the edges. More importantly, I feel completely exposed at night when my lights are on. Is there a film that offers true 24-hour privacy without making the room feel like a dungeon?

The moment I knew I had to find a permanent solution was when I was getting ready for bed and saw the silhouette of a neighbour walking past, clearly able to see into my room. I'd had enough of feeling like a goldfish in a bowl. I found what I was looking for with the 24-hour privacy films at https://www.tintfit.com/shop/privacy-products/privacy-24-hour-privacy. Unlike one-way mirror films that only work during the day, the privacy films I chose are designed to work both day and night. For my bedroom, I used a Blackout Window Film, which provides total solid blackout, meaning you cannot see in or out at all, and it blocks 100% of light for undisturbed sleep. For the bathroom, where I still wanted natural light, I used a frosted film like the Opal Frost STATIC film. It gives total privacy while still allowing a good level of light through. Installation was a simple DIY project with just soapy water and a squeegee, and now I can walk around my flat with all the lights on and feel completely secure.
